John is the manager of product innovation at Wolters Kluwer, a leading scientific, technical and medical publisher serving researchers and clinicians worldwide. John has started two businesses, and has served as a long term consultant for companies such as Elsevier, Wolters Kluwer, and Incyte Genomics. He has also been part of the creation of new products such as MD Consult, On Demand Books, Ovid, OvidMD, and the Child Abuse Atlas. With a background in software development, John has also served in product development, marketing, and sales.

John is the founder, developer and publisher of the Child Abuse Atlas – an innovative, evidence‐based online resource used by child abuse professionals around the world. In addition to his professional responsibilities, John is a CASA volunteer (Court Appointed Special Advocate) serving children who are the victims of abuse and neglect.

John lives in the countryside outside of St. Louis with his wife, Chris with whom he has two children, Phillip and Sindi. He takes great joy in his walking companion, Louie.

We are deeply committed to contributing to preventing child abuse through whatever skills and capabilities we can offer. We began working on the problem of child maltreatment nearly 20 years ago, and continue that effort through The Child Abuse Atlas and the Child Abuse Evidence Database. What started as a six month consulting contract turned into a 14 year relationship that spanned software development, marketing, product development, sales and eventually the role of Product Manager. MD Consult was an innovative, online multi-publisher platform that combined books, journals and databases serving customers around the world. The success of the MD Consult brand led to the creation of Doctor Consult (Germany), Expert Consult, Nursing Consult, Procedures Consult and a host of related products.

Program Manager: CardioSource Managed all aspects of the creation of CardioSource, an online service created in conjunction with the American College of Cardiologists, Harcourt, and multiple vendors.
